The fact that you can repeat the quests to gain faction over and over and over again means that the guilds with the highest member counts, again not necessarily the most skilled, will be able to maintain faction and rank higher than smaller guilds who may have more skilled players just not necessarily as many peons to do the ridiculously easy faction farming quests. My guild has enough players to field an elite mission team and we could win it too, easily, hands down because we cooperate, discuss strategy and execute strategy flawlessly in PvE. will we ever get to try them? No because we only have like 18 members and we don't want to ally with just any random grind monkey guild. We have standards, hence the low member count. I don't get this whole elite player = good equipment and a big guild. Everyone in my guild has high end equipment. Could we take on The Last Pride and win? No probably not. The only thing high end equipment means is that we are, if anything, elite farmers with tons of good spots and strategies for making cash. It sure as hell doesn't make us elite players. We're all good players but not elite by any stretch. We can and have destroyed PvE areas that even the best prepared groups have a hard time with and we have done it with ease because we custom set our skills and our builds to the particular situation, we discuss our strategy beforehand and we stick to it.. I say to you that if given the opportunity we could win an elite mission. Maybe not the first time but definately the second. The problem is that good players like myself and my guildies will never get the opportunity to do these missions because we don't have a bunch of grindmonkeys to farm faction for us.

U probably don't understand where is the problem. Elite mission is too much hard for 90% of players. Heal casts aren't enough quick, minions die in 2 sec ecc. It's the state of the art team the only one can complete elite mission. Needs of high performance, sync, full team work. I repeat, normally without 12 elite players, the best of the world, u die after 5 minutes. That's all. (don't try to write i'm rank 6 7 8 9 12 ecc pff..). Probably u're in a good guild with teamwork but this isn't enough. The war for elite mission begins

Something similar was said about the tombs... then Barrage/Pet got involved and stormed the place. There will always be builds that can finish places much faster than others, its just a matter of finding them out.

What's your solution to assassins that crit you for 300 damage and spawn in groups of 4's 6 8 or 10?
Or how about groups of 10-20 level 28 monsters? How about suicide bombers that insta-kill you or drain 40 energy?
Lots of other things...
It's doable, but it requires skill -and- a solid, balanced build; also teamwork, watching your position, watching the field, etc. You have to watch the monsters like you were watching an opponent in gvg, because if those assassins train on you, with no pre-prot..you're dead.

I know plenty of strong people out there, but who probably can't compete in the Elite missions because they have no alliance, or they just dont have a 5 billion rating...
You get the picture, and even if it is for the best of the best-everyone should be open to it, not just the best alliance.....

Even IF it is hard, that's all the more reason for this to NOT be centered around who can get the highest number.

I'm not in the alliance holding the town and I am /notsigned.
The Kurzick alliance has been taking randoms into the mission all day. All night.
Went in with a lot of pugs.

This game is supposed to cater to the casual gamers, but this simply encourages dumping hours into the game to farm faction.
Achievements such as owning towns, getting rank in Heroes Accent, being in a high-tier guild should be cosmetic only. Limiting content to only about 7 percent of the entire community wasn't a smart move on their part.
This game was supposed to cater to casual gamers who didn't want to grind to be on equal footing with everyone else, but I can honestly say I consider this game an MMORPG now rather than a "cooporative multiplayer online" game. There is no quick way to get max upgrades for weapons (setting PvE players on equal footing with non-grinders) and no quick way to get the runes of your choice.
And now they add moregrinding into the mix. Joy.

If I knew that this was allowed, I would not have made my original thread.
While I really don't agree with the set system, it's not as bad as I believed it to be. Generally /notsigned.

And on the points that it is to difficult for most of the players... show me I really wanna test that out.
I agree the area shouldnt be open freely, why not make it payable to enter, just like UW/FoW, but let the reward go to the owning guild? In that way, everybody can enter, but the owning guild has a large bonus for it (so its worth trying to get and keep it...)
And when its a difficult area, just pick your group right... you wont enter with a random PUG if you die in 2 secs... so the 90% crap players will never get a team or only a team of crap players... but I am not sure about its difficulty. Simply 1 guild can enter in a time, so not every build-maker have seen the missions. If its still like this in 6 months, than its a difficult area but I doubt that...

Arena.Net already said Elite Missions would be content exclusive to people who could get in. The problem, however, is that access to towns has nothing to do with skill and everything to do with how many members you have (500 XoO members can farm faction a hell of a lot faster than 20 members from a normal guild, regardless of skill).
I don't sign your petition on the premise that you think it should be for everyone. I particularly like the irony of your wording. "Elite missions shouldn't just be for Elitists". I do think that changes should be made, though, so that skillful players and guilds get access - not just big ones.

I'll never have a chance to play an elite mission, and I know it. That is apparently according to ANets design, and frankly not something I care greatly about.
To me it is simply so that I, being a PvE player, was never Factions intended target audience. I suspected as much before I bought Factions, and the more I play the clearer that gets.
I now just wish that Factions had been completely separate from Prophecies, because the new uber-items and uber-skills means that you're severely gimped if you play Prophecies with a Prophecies-only character.
Well, here's hoping that Guildwars 3 is geared towards exploration and PvE. It isn't likely, but one can hope.
